How our partners Feed Possibility

CG Wellington Inc. (“CGW”) has supported Feed Ontario’s Feed Possibility pillar for the past three years, contributing more than $300,000 to help food banks across Ontario expand storage and refrigeration capacity, make operational upgrades, and develop new programs to better serve their communities.

As the need for food banks has grown across Ontario, our partners have taken action and made an incredible difference for people and families facing hunger. Through our Feed Possibility pillar, we make sure food banks have the resources and training they need to meet the unique needs of their communities, and our pillar sponsors have made a significant impact with their support.

CG Wellington has supported Feed Possibility as a pillar sponsor for the last three years, contributing over $300,000 to help food banks expand their storage and refrigeration capacity, make operational upgrades, and to create new programs.

The impact doesn’t end there – CG Wellington, along with meaningful support from CAA and Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario, have made it possible for food banks to make the capacity-building changes needed to help thousands of people across the province.

“Investing in communities is a core value at CG Wellington. As an agricultural business with deep roots in food production, we recognize that food security is fundamental to the well-being and success of our communities. That’s why we’re proud to support Feed Ontario’s Feed Possibility Pillar, helping food banks access the resources and infrastructure they need to serve more families and create lasting change across the province.” – Larry Wood, CEO, CG Wellington

The impact of our Feeding Possibility! Grants

As a part of our Feed Possibility pillar, each year we provide food banks with grant funding to undertake new and necessary projects to meet the growing need they’re facing.

Since 2021 we’ve distributed over $2.8 million to our network through the Feeding Possibility! Grant program, supporting 136 different capacity-building projects across the province.

Feeding Possibility! in 2025

In 2025, our grants made sure food banks could improve visitor experiences and inventory management, create new programs that bring community members together, and receive more healthy options like chicken, beef, vegetables, eggs, and milk. The projects funded allowed for improved safety, increased accessibility, and for volunteers to be more adequately supported.

Project highlights

From essential upgrades and enhanced storage capacity to new programming, each project funded over the last year helps food banks across Ontario to be there for the community they serve when they’re needed most.

Expanded storage at South River Food Bank

In a town of just 2,500 people, South River Food Bank serves nearly 330 people each month. Funding to replace a refrigerator and two freezers and add shelving has increased cold-storage capacity, allowing the food bank to distribute more fresh and frozen food.

“We are deeply grateful to Feed Ontario for the Feeding Possibilities! Grant. This investment has strengthened our infrastructure… [and] it has positioned our food bank to better meet the growing needs of our rural communities, both now and into the future.” – Bob Weaver – South River Food Bank Board of Directors

Efficient lighting fixtures at Barrie Food Bank

With the help of a Feeding Possibility! Grant, Barrie Food Bank replace outdated fluorescent lighting with energy efficient LED fixtures to support warehouse sustainability and efficiency. The changes have increased safety, enhanced the support of food safety standards, and lowered ongoing utility costs – which has allowed more food to be purchased for the 7,600 people who turn to the food bank each month.

“The new lights make a huge difference. I can clearly read best before dates and labels without straining, especially during busy sorting days. It feels brighter, safer and more organized.” – Laura, Barrie Food Bank Volunteer

Wraparound supports at Ottawa Food Bank

The Ottawa Food Bank expanded its wraparound supports to 19 food bank locations with financial support from a Feeding Possibility! Grant. The program helps people navigate housing, childcare, healthcare, legal aid and employment services, addressing some of the challenges that can contribute to cycles of poverty.

Through these services clients have secured housing, received needed benefits, accessed childcare, healthcare, legal aid, and moved into employment.

One client expressed their gratitude with the program by sharing:

“I came for groceries but left with hope.”

Community advocacy work at North York Harvest Food Bank

With the help of a Feeding Possibility! Grant, North York Harvest Food Bank planned to mobilize 2,500 food bank community members, creating opportunities to take action to reduce poverty. The project sought to provide the community with the chance to attend rallies, encourage civic engagement, and amplify the voices of those with lived-experiences of poverty.

Through the project, over 500 community members attended a rally at Queen’s Park, 200 letters were sent to MPPs, and over 250 people attended a city budget rally. North York Harvest also shared its learnings with food banks across Ontario through a network webinar.

The power of our pillar sponsor’s support

CG Wellington and our pillar sponsors know that more than food is needed to address hunger in Ontario. Investments in the operational needs of food banks are essential, so they can serve those who need it most in their community with respect, care, and safety. Their support in funding the creation of new programs that help to address the root causes of poverty and lead to meaningful policy change also mean that we’re closer to reducing the need for food banks in the future.

Thank you to our Pillar Sponsors, for making these grants possible and helping us work toward a future without hunger in Ontario.
